Chapter 17b – Pleiades and the Seven Sisters

https://lucindariley.co.uk/seven-sisters-astronomy/  -  https://starwalk.space/en/news/m45-pleiades-star-cluster

Introduction

  1. 1- The Bible and the Quran both reference the Pleiades stars. But with very little details.

  1. 2- The Japanese car company name Subaru means the Pleiades stars. The automobile’s front grill logo represents the 6 stars you can see today.

  1. 3- Diwali is celebrated in India in reference to the Pleiades.

  1. 4- Halloween, All Souls Day and All Saints Day are all related to the Pleiades and are related to Pagan celebrations. (I didn’t expect this!)

  1. 5- The Pleiades is a group of hundreds of stars formed from the same cloud of gas and dust about 100 million years ago. The Pleiades is on the right side of Orion while the Sirius planets, from Chaper 17a, is on the left of Orion.

  1. 6- The Pleiades is about 442 light years away while the Sirius stars are much closer to Earth, 8.6 light years away.

  1. 7- In order to reach the Pleiades travelling at the speed of light, it would take 442 years to get there. So, I would imagine one would need to use warp speed to reach it faster just like how Eistein theorized.  (By expanding and contracting time-and-space for greater than speed of light travel or ... worm holes and portals?)

  1. 8- Civilizations all over the world have some kind of reference to the Pleiades. Majority of the time, the stories refer to seven sisters or friends who danced away to the skies.

  1. 9- The BIG thing here is that all seven sisters (or seven stars) are not visible today. Only six are visible but all societies still maintain the story of seven stars.

  2. 10- Astronomers conclude that the last time seven stars were visible from Earth was 100,000 years ago. Thus, either humans existed 100,000 years ago and saw the seven stars in the sky or someone, not-human, told the humans all over the world that there were seven stars in the Pleiades star system?

The Bible

  • 1- The Bible mentions the Pleiades star cluster three times, specifically in the books of Amos and Job. The Hebrew word used for the Pleiades in these passages is "Kimah". These mentions often appear alongside references to Orion, another prominent constellationAmos 5:8 and Job 9:9

  • 2- Symbol of Divine Power: In Job 9:9, God is identified as the creator of the Pleiades. In Job 38:31, God challenges Job, asking him if he can "bind the chains of the Pleiades or loosen the belt of Orion," highlighting God's immense power and authority over the universe.

  • 3- Reference in Amos: Amos 5:8 mentions that God "made the Pleiades and Orion," connecting the creation of these celestial bodies to God's control over natural phenomena like turning darkness into dawn and calling for the waters of the sea.

The Quran

"Al-Najm" can refer to the Pleiades: The pagan Arabs of the time often used "al-Najm" as a specific name for the Pleiades, a particularly prominent and recognizable star cluster. This would make this interpretation plausible for the first verse of Surah An-Najm, which reads "By the star when it sets".

The name, Pleiades, comes from Ancient Greek: Πλειάδες It probably derives from plein (πλεῖν 'to sail') because of the cluster's importance in delimiting the sailing season in the Mediterranean Sea: "the season of navigation began with their heliacal rising".

In Classical Greek mythology the name was used for seven divine sisters called the Pleiades. In time, the name was said to be derived from that of a mythical mother, Pleione, effectively meaning "daughters of Pleione".
